A road trip to Alaska from Southern California

We turned a curve in the road - saw a gas station & decided to stop for "last gas". We were very excited when we saw this sign. North - to Alaska!!

People told us not to take this road - over 200 miles of gravel. But, it was too late - we were here.

We don't recommend you take Hwy. 37 - it is a long and brutal road. Many trucks ahead leaving clouds of dust so thick we could not see the road. We only stopped one night at a beautiful log cabin bed & breakfast. We were going to camp, but the ranger said there was a mean bear on the prowl.
